In response to complaints from residents of Ashendon, the Parish Council ran a Speed Watch during February. I am pleased to advise that we had a very successful first run at operating the Sentinel Speed Camera which is set up to capture images of any vehicle travelling above a calibrated speed.

We completed 8 sessions between 14th and 23rd February. These sessions were all on the Causeway and the camera captured traffic heading into and away from Ashendon.

52 letters will be sent out to the registered owners of cars captured travelling at excessive speed through Ashendon. Some vehicles were captured on camera on 3 separate occasions and the registered owners will receive 3 letters (the third letter will be delivered by a police officer and the driver may face further action).

A big thank you to the volunteers who found the time to run a session (Chris Ashton, Claire Burton, Richard Bates, Vanessa Bates, Andy Howes, Liz Johnson, Peter Johnson, Sian Miller, Richard Phillips). And particular thanks to Richard Phillips who took charge of the equipment and made sure it was available to everyone as required and has offered to continue this ‘service’ for future sessions if he is available to do so. Also thanks to Cllr Peter Stray (Waddesdon Parish Council) who delivered the kit, trained us and downloaded/collated data to generate the letters.

We plan to do another check sometime during Spring and will agree some additional locations for the camera with Peter Stray and our local police at Waddesdon.

Please let me know if you can offer your time and have not already done so as the more volunteers we have the more time we can run the camera for. The ideal times are weekday mornings between 7.00 and 08.30am and evenings from 15.30 to 18.30pm. But anytime the camera is out it will be watching and capturing speeding traffic.

Many thanks

Sian
