ASHLEY SHINES AT WORLD BOWLS

Many members were glued to their phones and TVs yesterday as Ashley played his second game in the World Indoor Bowls Pairs Championships. Shown live on YouTube and streamed on Facebook, Ashley and partner Wayne Willgress took on former World Champions Greg Harlow and Nicky Brett in what turned out to be a thrilling and tense match. Both teams won a set to take the match to a three end tie-break which Ashley and Wayne lost 2-1 but only after, on the second break, they had laid game, only for Nicky Brett to kill the end and save the match. It was nail biting stuff and all players showed immense skill. Well done to them all but particularly to Ashley for whom this must have been a great experience to play at such a level. It should prepare him for October when he makes his debut in the England Junior team.
