The 21st Annual Alzheimer Afternoon organised by the Dando family led by Chris, was once more a great success thanks to the support of so many local people. Held in All Saints church hall at the end of August, over sixty friends and visitors came along, all spending generously at the various stalls and adding personal donations. The total raised, so far, is £500 with a few donations still expected. As usual, half of this total will be sent nationally to go towards research and the other half will support the activities of the local branch. Over the years this group, supported so generously by many local people, has raised in excess of £17000. Mr Terry Eccott, our local Alzheimers Society ambassador and Dementia Friendly Alton Chairman, circulated the hall chatting to those present and drew the Raffle. Terry Eccott Said, "It is amazing the amount of effort Kate and her family have put in over the years, such dedication is a rare thing to see, and the amount they have raised in 21 years is outstanding! I will look forward to the next event and make sure I am there to support their great work" The next fundraiser from this group will be at the Christmas Fayre, to be held in the Alton Community centre at the beginning of December.
