COLDEN COMMON BOWLS CLUB
NEWSLETTER - AUGUST 2026
IT'S STILL HOT - This has caused a lot of problems during our playing season so far but proud of the club for working through the heat and solving the problems.
The AGM will be held some time in January or February. We will have a fish and chip supper with Barry doing a quiz. Hope more people will attend as last year there was only just enough members to vote. It's your club to vote for who and what you want. Don't leave for others to decide.
AGM - The following will be put onto the agenda so far - please let Janet know if you want anything added:
• Voting of Officers
• Booking diary for the green next season
• Lawn Mower
• Green hire by other clubs
• Participation in new to us S&D games
Presentation evening at The Farmers Home, Durley - menu is on the notice board and on WhatsApp - please join in - Any queries ask Janet. Wednesday 25th November 2026.
Friary Cup - mixed ladies and men - wait for next year girls!
S&D Men - played 15 and won 10, runners-up in Division 3. Well done guys!
S&D Ladies - All going well and enjoyable but due to the sad death of Chris Robinson we have muddled along. Chris had done so much for the ladies' S&D.
Angie has been very pleased at how the in-house competitions have gone - roll on the finals weekend 5th and 6th September.
Just a reminder that the AGM and signing-on for Fair Oak Indoor Bowls is in the Grace Mears Room at Fair Oak Village Gall at 7:15pm on Friday 4th September - bowling starting Monday 7th September.
Social - Claire is organising a beetle drive on Friday 25th September, £12 with fish/pie n' chips.

Additional Information
There is a second hand car sales on Main Road, by the junction controlled by traffic lights. As you look at the car sales go down the narrow lane on the right side, not into the housing estate. This lane is narrow with passing places, just keep on going, pass the fields with horses then Colden Common Park is on the left and there is plenty of parking.’
