What an unusual year we have had. Some bowlers took advantage of the nice weather and played. An internal triples league was arranged and was won by Simon Pulling, Reece Hibbird and Dan Groombridge. A men’s and ladies’ singles competition took place with the final on Sunday 20th September. Sue Goodchild beat Pat Perryman and Tony Petts beat Peter Adams. It was an enjoyable afternoon and well done to the winners. Thanks to Bob Waters, friendlies have taken place against Canterbury, Whitstable and Margate. Tennis seemed to go well and we have welcomed several new tennis members.

As some of you are aware we didn’t manage to run the summer draw and there won’t be one at Christmas, however, I had bought some prizes and obviously some entries were bought. I intend to buy other prizes to spend about two thirds of the money collected which is the norm. Once I have done that I will arrange a draw of the entries to be made and contact the winners.

It doesn’t seem likely that the bar will be open this winter, certainly not in the foreseeable future and we will not be able to have social evenings or bingo. If things change we will be in touch.

Please note that we have a website. www.birchingtonbowlsclubandtenniscourts.com and a facebook group’ the bowls club Birchington’ where information will be added from time to time.

In the meantime, winter well stay safe and healthy. We hope next year will be an improvement and we can enjoy the activities of the club.
