Following discussions at Committee level, a recommendation from the Finance & General Purposes Committee was presented to Full Council for consideration.

In recognition of the difficult times facing so many of our residents, Members discussed how Council could continue to provide the important community facilities for our Town without incurring any increase in its Precept (Council Tax) for 2021/22.

Council carefully considered the projects from each Committee and agreed that some improved amenities must remain a priority. Members felt it was appropriate use of its Community Infrastructure Levy Ear Marked Reserve to provide for: a replacement Skate Ramp (currently closed on safety grounds) on the land owned by East Sussex County Council which will be leased to Battle Town Council under a 14 year agreement; hard surfacing of sections of three of the worst County Council footpaths; a contribution towards the rebuild of the unfit for purpose Pavilion; and to investigate further the feasibility of the Steps to Ramp project between Mountjoy and Bowmans Drive. These will therefore be taken forward at no extra cost to Council tax payers.
