Prospective Councillor Event

There will be Borough elections in Swale on 4 May 2023 with all 47 seats in 24 wards up for election.

Two Information sessions were held in Faversham and Sheppey at the end of last year and the final session will be held at 10am on Saturday 25 February at Swale House, in advance of the 2023 Borough elections for anyone looking to find out more about becoming a Councillor.

No experience is needed to be a Councillor and people of all ages and backgrounds are encouraged to attend. It is not necessary to be a member of a political party to become a Councillor.

Topics covered during the session include what it’s like to be a Councillor and there will be the opportunity to speak to current-serving Councillors about their own experience. There will also be information on what the Council does and the issues it faces as well as how to stand for election.

The sessions will be hybrid. Please contact democraticservices@swale.gov.uk if you wish to attend remotely or for further details.
