This Saturday 29 May, Malmesbury Bowls Club will be holding an Open Day,

No matter how young or old you are, come and give bowls a try.

You do not need any special equipment, clothes or shoes. All that we ask is that you wear shoes with a flat sole to avoid damaging the green

Activities

Between ten o'clock and five o'clock, you can come along to the green and try the different activities. Do not worry as someone will be on hand to explain what to do.

  • Placing the jack
  • Bowling to a target
  • Bowl against skittles
  • Try and bowl the best score
  • Can you land your bowl on the mat
  • Try short mat bowls

There will also be a barbecue in the afternoon and the bar will be open.

Why Play Bowls?

  • Playing bowls is very doable. Whatever your shape or size or height, bowls is a sport for everybody and it will help improve your fitness levels and mental wellbeing.
  • Bowls is not expensive. To get going you don’t need lots of new kit and clubs put on taster sessions for free. Even when you get the bug, a set of bowls and joining a club does not cost much.
  • After football, bowls has the second-highest number of clubs in the country. With so many places to play, it’ll take no time at all to get to a bowls club close to your home.
  • Compared to most sports, age and gender differences have less of an effect on a game of bowls, so it’s a perfect sport to spend time and enjoy a bit of friendly competition with your family.
  • Bowls clubs are sociable places full of people looking to have fun, so bowls is a great way to relax, make new friends and feel part of your local community.
