Find out more about this community in:

Bridge the Gap is a FREE innovative programme funded by UK Community Renewal Fund which aims to bring unemployed and economically inactive individuals back into the labour market resulting in added value for the areas of Thanet, Swale and Canterbury. Our aim is to support 290 unemployed and economically active individuals back to the labour market from now until June 2022. Individuals must be aged 18 plus, unemployed, or economically active and living in the areas of Thanet, Swale or Canterbury to be eligible – this could include anyone for example, short to long term unemployed, people on career breaks, people with health conditions including mental health and stay at home parents.

Participants will receive an individualised and bespoke programme of support which includes 121 sessions with an experienced qualified IAG mentor, who will provide client centred and targeted support to enable beneficiaries to access support, training, work taster opportunities, and any other opportunities provided as part of the programme.

We also have a substantial bursary to support clients who will be assessed on a case-by-case basis for eligibility – items we might fund could include IT equipment, courses on any subject including managing stress and anxiety, mindfulness, counselling, equipment to start work, travel expenses and anything else deemed necessary for the person to move on.

Benefits for the client include improved confidence and self-esteem, improved life skills, improved employability skills so they will become more actively involved in the local community and have sustainable progression and opportunities reducing the reliance on welfare benefits.
