In Ancient Chinese philosophy, Yin and Yang is a concept of dualism, describing how seemingly opposite or contrary forces may actually be complementary, interconnected, and interdependent in the natural world, and how they may give rise to each other as they interrelate to one another.

"If we never experience the chill of a dark winter, it is very unlikely that we will ever cherish the warmth of a bright summer’s day. Nothing stimulates our appetite for the simple joys of life more than the starvation caused by sadness or desperation. In order to complete our amazing life journey successfully, it is vital that we turn each and every dark tear into a pearl of wisdom, and find the blessing in every curse."

On Saturday, we experienced the joys of our new state-of-the-art green. On Sunday, we experienced the joys of the quintessential English village bowling green in Broughton Gifford. We must learn to embrace and love both.

The Malmesbury players had to work hard, work being the operative word, to play on the early season green with its idiosyncrasies. We have to learn how to quickly adapt to the conditions as will the clubs when visiting Malmesbury.

Thank you to Broughton Gifford for being excellent hosts in these COVID times. Let's hope the regulations can be relaxed soon to allow the bars to open properly and to have some food after the game, as socialising is an important part of bowls culture.

Scores on the doors were:

Rink 1 Malmesbury 11 - Broughton Gifford 20

Rink 2 Malmesbury 13 - Broughton Gifford 18

Rink 3 Malmesbury 8 - Broughton Gifford 26

Total Score Malmesbury 32 - Broughton Gifford 64
