CAMEMS Becomes a Registered Charity

We are delighted to announce that the Canterbury Association for Medieval and Early Modern Studies (CAMEMS) is now a registered charity (No. 1217550).

This marks an important step in the development of the organisation. Charitable status recognises that CAMEMS exists for the public benefit, supporting research, education and engagement in medieval and early modern studies. It strengthens our governance, increases transparency, and opens up new opportunities for funding, partnerships and growth.

For our Friends and partners such as the University of Kent, this brings tangible benefits. Donations may now be eligible for Gift Aid, helping us to do more with every contribution. It also provides greater assurance that CAMEMS operates to the standards expected of UK charities. Above all, becoming a charity enables us to build more ambitiously, to supporting scholarship - by scholarships and research grants.

We are grateful to all those who have supported CAMEMS to reach this milestone and look forward to the next stage of our journey together.
