Car park appeal dismissed

Brunning & Price, the applicants for a planned additional car park serving the Mytton & Mermaid, have had their appeal against refusal dismissed.

The original application was refused by Shropshire Council in May, following which the appeal was submitted to the government's Planning Inspectorate in August.

The Inspector summarised as follows: 'On balance, the moderate weight that I ascribe to the public benefits which would
accrue from the development is not sufficient to outweigh the considerable importance and weight that I attach to the harm to the significance of [the] heritage assets.' Her full decision letter is available to view on our website, on the Planning page (under Community Information).
