After coming through three rounds of the Ivens Cup in the Birmingham Area, all away at Kings Heath, Tamworth and Bournville, Solihull went to the Warwickshire CBA's Finals Day at Norgren (Shipston) to play the area winners from Coventry, Rugby and South Warwickshire.

The Solihull Four of Chris Wright, Norman Powell, Doug Bott and Paul Jones played last year's winners, Coventry's Wolvey, in the morning’s semi-final. After trailing 1-9, Solihull played some magnificent bowling to eventually come through by 21-17. In the afternoon’s final they played Grange Bowls Club from Rugby, who had beaten South Warwickshire's Little Compton in their semi-final. Solihull again found themselves behind in the first half of the match, trailing 5-12, but they rallied again to win in dramatic style by 16-15.

A great performance from the four in the semi-final and final, but congratulations also go to John Herbert, John Hanmore and Bryan Jones for helping to see the team through the early matches. Another great team performance from Solihull Municipal.

Full results from the County Finals can be seen on the County website.
