Work on the renovations to the Methodist Schoolroom, the first part of the Chapel's redevelopment project, appears to be running ahead of schedule.

This week should see a new floor starting to appear. A previous detailed examination of the walls by a structural engineer ensured suitable brick walls were incorporated into the plans to support the weight of this new floor.

The first couple of weeks of work saw the old floor stripped out and the plaster removed from the bottom of the walls in preparation for the installation of the damp proof course. The new, secondary glazed, windows have now been ordered.

All being well, and provided all goes to plan, the room should be finished by Christmas.

As no-one other than the contractors is allowed on site due to health and safety regulations, members and villagers alike look forward to seeing the results.
