It is many years since Oakley Bowling Club had Cheese and Wine Evenings at Steventon and no one quite knew what to expect when the Social Committee decided to hold one at Malshanger. Take up, initially, was worryingly slow but in the end over 50 attended, for what turned out to be a splendid evening. Six wines were provided and introduced for tasting by Sarah from Majestic Wines with each wine paired with a cheese recommended by Sarah but purchased by our cheese connoisseur Ric. Follwing the tastings, there was a substantial cheese and pate supper accompanied by more wine and this time for our bon viveurs larger glasses! During the supper we also took part in a Cheese and Wine Quiz devised by Ric. This demonstrated our lack of knowledge but did not take away from an enjoyable evening at the end of which President Martin thanked the Social Committee (Ric, Bob, Janie and Norman) for arranging the event, Sean for staffing the bar and Kay for running the raffle.
