The Medway Local Plan has entered a further period of public consultation on the pressures that the growth pressures the local area is facing to 2035. The plan covers a wide range of impacts, but there is always focus on the housing numbers (3c. 30,000 between 2012 and 2035).
The suggested strategy is to develop previous developed land ('brown field') wherever possible and even a suggestion that jobs could be moved from Medway City Estate over time and some of the site developed for housing. Hoo would change from a large village to a small rural town and villages on the Hoo peninsula would see some expansion - including Cliffe and Cliffe Woods.
