Prior to the Drawn Pairs Competition starting, David Wallace, our President, presented a cheque for £1,807 to the representatives of GAFIRS, Keith and Joyce Thomas. The money was raised during our very successful Colin Ford Open Day organised as usual with great expertise by Phil Sanders. Keith Thomas was most grateful for this contribution to their organisation and gave a speech outlining the important work that they do in providing emergency lifeboat cover to the Eastern Solent and Portsmouth Harbour.

After this, the Drawn Pairs Competition took place. We not only had to battle against our opponents, we also had a battle against the gale force winds but fortunately, apart from one brief shower we were spared any very heavy showers. It was a great day's bowling and after we had all played three rounds each, the winners of the eight groups played the quarter-finals for a place in the semi-finals. The semi-finalists are Rob Dawkins with Fred Hayter, Angela Guilbaud with Dennis Wren, Martin Ellis with Joan Dawkins and Ken Kingston with Bill Lamb.

Here's a link to a selection of photos from the Drawn Pairs Competition.
