When Collingwood members George Jobe and Chris Armstrong were part of the Bowls Northumberland County team which renewed its rivalry against Yorkshire in the Alsop Cup, at Ponteland on Saturday 1st June 2019.

Although the game was played in a sporting manner, there was no doubt – as was made clear from the start – that Yorkshire were on a revenge mission, following their defeat by Northumberland in the final of the Alsop Cup last season.

However, the current holders of the Alsop Cup were in no mood to relinquish their hold of the trophy and went on to defeat old rivals Yorkshire in what was an exciting, thrilling match.

Both Team Manager Michael Wilson and Keith Rowe concurred that it was a fine game and a good match played by both teams.

As usual, the weather was hit and miss – but then it is England in the Spring.
