Wiltshire Four Rink League

Malmesbury made the journey to Spencer Melksham after day of rain to find a grass green in good condition. Malmesbury were competitive on three of the four rinks. Rob's rink had a good win. Tim's rink were ahead going into the last end and ended up with a draw. Andy's rink were down after a poor start but managed to come back and they were drawing before the last end, only to lose by two. The scores on the door were 3-11 on points and 60-77 on shots.

  • Rob - 21-15

  • Roy - 9-30

The league table can be viewed here https://www.bowlswiltshire.co.uk/mens-four-rink-league-south/. Malmesbury lie 6th in the table. It will be a case of using home advantage to finish up higher in the league table.

The next match is against Warminster at home on Wednesday 29th May and our Cotswold League compatriots play Nailsworth Mills at home on Tuesday 28th May.

National Competitions

In the National Fours, Roy, Tim, Malc and Brian travelled to Royal Wootton Bassett on Friday 17th May and met a very strong home four, and lost.

On Monday 20th May, Neil, Roger, Alan and Paul played a strong four from Westlecot. After a poor start, the Malmesbury four played better and on the last end, they were 18-21 down. The Malmesbury four were holding 3 to draw the match and play an extra end, but the Westlecot skip drew the shot bowl to win the match 18-22.

In the National Singles (Over 55s), Paul played a Westlecot player on Sunday 19th May. After a disastrous start, Paul was 4-15 down and looking at an early exit. However, somehow, Paul dragged himself back into the game and won 21-20 after 28 ends. Paul plays at Calne on Tuesday 28th May.

Other matches are Roy's triple play Westlecot in the National Triples on Tuesday 28th May. Neil's rink will play at Chippenham Town in the National Fours (Over 55s) on Friday 24th May and Neil's triple play their first National Triples match at Marlborough on Friday 31st May.

Club Competitions

In the 2 wood, Paul, John and Malc have advanced to the first round. The play by date for the preliminary round is Sunday 2nd June.

In the Men's Handicap, Bryan, Alan and Andy progressed to the first round.

Finally, in the Men's Championship, Andrew advanced to the first round. The play by date for the preliminary round is Sunday 2nd June.
