Residents of Pentewan Village and Tregorrick & Trewhiddle to Vote on 28 May 2026

In the wake of the recent resignations of councillor Toni Dowrick, representing Tregorrick & Trewhiddle Ward, and councillor Richard Strawford from Pentewan Ward, Cornwall Council’s Electoral Service issued a Notice of Vacancy for both positions.

The notices called upon electors in the affected wards to take action within 14 working days, encouraging them to request an election to fill the vacant seats.

Subsequently, Cornwall Council Election Services confirmed that at least ten registered voters from Pentewan Village ward and Tregorrick & Trewhiddle ward formally requested a poll. This means an election will now be organised to fill the councillor vacancies.

The by-election date has been scheduled for Thursday 28 May 2026. Residents of the relevant wards are urged to participate and have their say in the local democratic process.

Nomination papers may be obtained from the Deputy Returning Officer at Cornwall Council, 0E, County Hall, Treyew Road, Truro, TR1 3AY (01872 324196).or by contacting the Parish Clerk at clerk@pentewanvalley-pc.gov.uk
