Matt Blythe, Local Area Manager for Bursledon, Hamble and Hound has given the following update regarding the works being undertaken at Coronation Parade by contractors on behalf of Eastleigh Borough Council:

I am pleased to say that our contractor, Colas, has now given me the dates to carry out the surfacing to Coronation Parade. This means that the work programme will be as follows:

  • Tarmac surfacing to footpaths at the front of the parade will take place on the night of 14 March 2019. Please note that parking bays will need to be suspended during this period to allow for the delivery of the tarmac.
  • The railings are due to be installed later this week or possibly at the beginning of next week. Once these are installed much of the 'Heras' fencing can be removed so will improve the look of the Parade. There will be some noise from this as holes are drilled.
  • The resin surfacing to the walkway areas outside the shops will take place on the night of 31 March 2019 (the laying of this material is weather dependant so if conditions are bad this may need to be postponed).
  • Once the above works are complete new bins, benches, bike racks and the updated parking restrictions will be installed/implemented.

Please note that we have to carry out night works to ensure that the Parade remains open during the day. Colas have minimised the number of nights that this is happening on and they will be using techniques and equipment to minimise the impact (e.g. electric mixers for the resin and the tarmac will be delivered ready to spread).

Thank you for your ongoing patience. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
