Council tax energy rebate

Thanet District Council have shared an update on the £150 Energy Rebate Payments.

This is a government rebate to Council Tax payers in bands A-D (and E if in receipt of disabled persons reduction) to help with rising energy costs. This is a one-off payment and is not a reduction in Council Tax. It will not show on your Council Tax bill and it will not have to be repaid.

TDC started issuing this rebate last week, with 32,344 payments made totalling £4,851,600. These payments cover nearly all direct debit customers, and the most recent payments are due to credit bank accounts tomorrow.

TDC are still working through some cases, including Direct Debit payers who did not make a payment until the end of the month, or who haven't yet paid an installment, or where there is a difference between the name on the Council Tax account and the name on the bank account.

TDC wish to reassure residents that they do not need to contact the customer service team. If needed, TDC will contact them.

We will be working through all the remaining Direct Debit cases with queries as quickly as we can and we will then move onto the non Direct Debit customers. We know this payment is really important to your residents and we are working hard to get these payments out to all those eligible as soon as possible.
