Schedule for recruitment of councillors by co-option

Allendale Parish Council is looking to fill a councillor vacancy by co-option and invites expressions of interest. Application forms and information can be found on our website or obtained from the Parish Clerk (details below)

Application process

If you are interested, you should read Allendale Parish Council’s:

• Co-option policy and procedure
• Code of Conduct
• General information about becoming a parish councillor (Appendix A)

If you would like to put in an application, you should complete:

• Election/Eligibility Declaration Form (Appendix B);
• Application Form/Expression of Interest Form (Appendix C);
• Co-option Personal Statement Form (Appendix D);

and either email or post these to the Parish Clerk by Friday 30th July 2026. You will find these documents under the resource section of our website.

The Parish Clerk will invite all eligible candidates to the 3rd September 2026 Parish Council meeting to introduce themselves and to ask questions.

If the vacancy is not filled, then eligible applications received by the last Friday of subsequent months will be considered at the next meeting.

The Council will discuss each candidate’s suitability for the role under the Confidential item when members of the public are not present.
