This morning's Area Final of the MIxed Top Club was transferred from Farnborough to Hook and with both our singles starting slowly it looked as if it might be an early bath for Oakley. As the morning progressed Oakley came back into the game and at half way there was little in four of the disciplines with only the Fours looking as if it might definitely go Cove's way. At this stage Cove scored 9 from 2 ends in the Triples and with skip Spencer Kerley having a mare of a game (he later even managed a wrong bias) the triples discipline looked lost and we were now dependent upon gaining wins in both singles and the Pairs. Ashley Nethercliffe duly recorded our first point in the Men's Singles and the match was still in the balance with our Pairs having a see saw game and Nicole Rogers involved in a close battle with Sarah Bowen. The Triples had now lost but having trailed throughout the game, Nicole levelled at 17-17. Hopes of a narrow Oakley win evaporated as, after 27 ends, she went down 17-21 giving Cove the necessary 3rd point and victory. Although the Pairs and Fours were still playing Oakley then conceded the game as victory was no longer possible.

Oakley scores: Ashley Nethercliffe won 21-14, Nicole Rogers lost 17-21, Janie Vickers and Fred Norris were winning 22-20, Heather Statham, Ruth Bown and Spencer Kerley lost 11-23, Terry Heath, Kay Kerley, Ted Brown and Claire Flannigan were losing 10-20
