Boxing Day Game

Unfortunately our Tier 2 designation means that, despite the Christmas rule relaxation, we will be unable to run a game on Boxing Day as planned. Many thanks to those who had worked on this.

Keep hold of your costumes though (what, you mean you were not going to turn up with Santa hats?) as we will hold a ‘virtual’ Boxing Day game as soon as COVID allows.

Auction/Sale/Bonds

Money from items sold so far has been donated to the club and there has been some take-up of the bonds on offer. All funds raised through these approaches will be used to fund the lighting project (see below).

Membership 2021
Fees due by 31st January 2021 please. Bank transfer (BACS) if possible.

  • Social Membership will be £10
  • Bowls Membership will be £115 with £50 for new bowlers
However, to recognise the loyalty of members who joined or re-joined during the 2020 season, any of those members who join again in 2021 will be charged a reduced membership of £70.
Honours' Boards
The Honour Boards have been relaced by Roger with versions that are much easier to update when required.
Lighting Project
We are delighted to say that the club now has a set of lights. Following successful trials there will be four portable units operating from the far end of the green and four units that will be attached to poles along the new metal railings. The cost of the lighting is approximately £6,000 and this will be our major project for the year. Any bonds that are purchased or money raised from sales or auctions will go towards this cost, which has been funded by Ruby so far.
Fixtures 2021
A set of fixtures has been drawn up by Derek for the new year. At the moment these run from April to October. Clearly we hope to enjoy a more normal season but at the present time this cannot be assumed. There will be no fixture book published for 2021. It will be much easier to amend/adapt the list if it is held and displayed as part of the club website. However hard copies will be produced for those without digital access. Weekend triples games (in-house) will resume as soon as we are allowed.
Club Annual General Meeting (AGM)
This would normally take place in February but at this stage it not possible to predict when it can be held. We will keep members informed of developments. Contact any member of the committee if you want to find out more.
Any official opening of the new green will also have to wait until we are able to meet and mingle again.
Benches
Our thanks go to Pete Curnock, Steve Caygill, Shirley and Anna for their contribution to painting and supplying materials for the benches which are looking very smart and well preserved.

Very Best Wishes for your limited Christmas celebrations and here’s to a much better New Year
