Dementia-friendly dance sessions

Sevenoaks District Council has teamed up with EDNA (Energise Dance Nourish Art) and Involve Kent to offer Dementia-friendly dance sessions for over 55 year olds in Shoreham and Edenbridge.
The sessions are for people living with memory problems, including dementia and will run for 12 weeks from Thursday 3 March in Shoreham and Tuesday 8 March in Edenbridge.
These friendly and supportive sessions give participants the opportunity to improve their wellbeing and mobility by singing, dancing, chatting and socialising over a cup of tea or coffee.
The 12-week courses cost £36 in advance and include drinks. They are suitable for all, including those who wish to remain seated during exercise. Carers are welcome too.
Cabinet member for People and Places, Cllr Lesley Dyball says: “We’re delighted to be able to able to put on these wellbeing courses. The last two years have been very isolating for vulnerable people so it’s great to be able to offer a sociable, supportive and safe environment for people living with memory issues.
“The classes work out at £3 per sessions and carers can attend for free. Booking is essential so make sure you sign up before all the places are taken.”
