On Sunday 15th September Neil Burnell and Ian Turner became the Devon County Pairs winners, they played at Culm Vale in glorious sunshine and were supported by members of Tiverton bowling club and close family.

They had to play the semi-final in the morning where their opponents were from Bradworthy Bowling club, Neil and Ian won this match in splendid style, winning 22 to 9 after 20 ends. After a rest and some well deserved refreshments, they then took on the pair from Plymstock Bowling club. Their form did not leave them and after 7 ends they were 10 - 1 to the good; 15 ends the score was 19 - 4, Neil and Ian only had to hold their nerve and the winning post was in sight. They were more relaxed than their supporters, who needn't have worried because the match ended with an impressive victory 24-8. Well done to both of them and it just goes to show the little clubs can produce excellent players too.

Neil and Ian were presented with a commemorative badge which was presented by the Devon mens president; a proud moment for both players.
