Digital support sessions to be piloted at Barrasford Village Hall

The National Innovation Centre for Rural Enterprise (NICRE), together with Community Action Northumberland (CAN) are working on a project for NCC and Commsworld to offer free digital support to communities throughout the county (as full fibre is rolled out).

The support relies on growing a network of volunteers (digital champions), ideally living in or near communities themselves, (that are trained and DBS checked by CAN) that can offer a regular, recognisable face to those that need help. Using coffee mornings as a natural starting point for people coming together, the digital support is tacked on so that people come to these events with their devices. A trial session is due to be held at Barrasford Village Hall on Wed Feb 11th (10-11) alongside the Dunkers Coffee morning.

All are welcome to attend for a chat, including anyone who might be interested in becoming a digital champion. It is a really rewarding and flexible thing to be able to do and you don't have to be an expert!
