All of you who know Elaine, who have played bowls, bridge, whist, walked, or gardened with her will know what a treasure she is. It was a sad moment for Milford BC when she announced her decision to return to Australia the country of her birth. Never sad for long though we decided to celebrate this lady with a special night. Friday 8th July evening, glorious as it was, started as normal for with members bowling in our Rock up & Roll club night league. As we were on the green friends, family and all started to arrive ready to party, I'm sure she suspected something was up as the Australian flag flew proudly from our flag pole. Our game was followed by an evening for and with Elaine, it opened with Margaret Downs addressing those present with a condensed history of Elaine's time in the UK; followed by a presentation of flowers and a gift by Ralph Jenner, Club President and Zoe Hollins Club Chairman. Then we set to the serious part, an enormous and very tasy buffet had been prepared by Sandra and other members all centred around a very large, very special cake. Elaine we will miss you, just keep up with the emails.
