Not a lot to cheer about at the moment . We completed the season pretty well acheiving mid table positions in the four leagues we play in .

Although the season was enjoyable problems started to mount towards the seasons end with illness besetting some players. We wish everyone a speedy recovery.

As with many clubs we have constant recruiting problems and difficulties ahead. Where are the record number of retired people they certainly dont take up bowls.

The green was closed early this year by the counci lwho claimed it would give extra time to enable renovation works to take place. This resulted in the club loosing the club finals day set for the 15th September.

At the end of season meeting with the representitive of Broxtowes Parks and leisures the main topic was the renovation At Coronations Park particularly the re-leveling of the green where subsidence has occured . We where surprised to be told that an application to receive council funds to carry out the work would be made. Not what we expected to hear .We will be watching closely at progress .But i am concerned that work must start soon to be ready for the next season.

Anyway, on a cheerfull note our AGM will be at the Greasley Miners Welfare Social Club Dovecoat Road .Newthorpe on Friday November 2nd 7.30pm Start. Visitors most welcome to meet the players.

Our Christmas dinner is on Friday November 30th at the Hogs Head Awsworth 7.30pm. members and guests welcome payment can be made at the AGM The dinner will be subsidised and.I will announce the cost when i send out the meeting Agenda next week.
