End of Season League Update

As the season draws to a close,we can look back on a great effort by all of our teams, although not always a winning one!

Let's start with the Ladies, who triumphed in the Swindon & District Ladies Afternoon Triples winning the League clearly by 8 points over Supermarine with Shrivenham in 3rd.

In the Swindon & District Ladies Evening League the Ladies came agonisingly close to the League double, however, needing all 8 points from their last game to claim the title they lost on one rink which opened the door to Shrivenham. They didn't need a second invitation when taking all 8 points from their last game against Stratton Churchways to pip Purton. With Supermarine taking 3rd place.

Still, a great effort from our ladies to add to their successes across Local, County and National Competitions.

We enterred the Wiltshire Mixed Triples League for the first time this seaosn but struggled at times to get the necessary 2 Ladies to play in this 2 triples League. Players were given the opportunity to gain experience playing in different positions and the team had some notable successes against strong teams. We finished a close last of the 8 teams, but those that played enjoyed the friendly atmosphere of this Saturday morning League and look forward to playing and improving next year.

In the Swindon & District Tea & Biscuit Afternoon Triples League the B team performed brilliantly in their first season in Division 1 to finish as Runners-Up to a very strong Westlecot squad who they beat twice.

In Division 3 things did not go well for our newly promoted side who struggled to gain momentum and sadly were relegated back to Division 4 for next season.

In the Men's 4-Rink Wiltshire League, the team struggled thorughout the season to get the full compliment of 16 players out but still managed to put up some strong performances to finally finish 6th in Division 2 North.

Things were better in the Swindon & District Evening League where our men where able to be complemented by our Ladies in this Open 4-rink League. The team performed strongly throughout the season and at one stage looked odds on for the title. Sadly, they gave points away against more lowly opposition during the run in to finally be pipped to the title by Cricklade.

However, promotion was confirmed and we will need to fight hard in a strong Division 1 next year to consolidate our place.
