On Friday 1st April at 7.00 for 7.30pm you are warmly invited to come along to discuss with club coaches Martin Speakman and Fran Hughes, the rules and etiquette expected when playing a game of Bowls.
If you would like to bring some food along to share we could enjoy an informal get together afterwards. The bar will be open for drinks.
Martin has compiled a list of points for discussion in a document entitled “Help and Advice for New Bowlers”.
The points he has listed begin before the game starts then cover what happens during the game and what happens afterwards.
They include some of the rules to be aware of, the etiquette we should bring to the game, the health and safety of those taking part, the interaction between players and the duties of the Lead, Two, Three and Skip.
It is intended as a support for new bowlers approaching their first games but it also acts as a reminder, reference and review for more experienced bowlers.
This document has been compiled with the help of experienced National Coach Richard Northam, Club Coach Fran Hughes, some of our club members and County Coach Peter Staddon who has indicated that he would like to use the document for County Coaching purposes.
We welcome everyone who would like to attend, both new and not so new members to make this a valuable and informative discussion.
Knowing and understanding the rules and etiquette of the game will hopefully ensure we will always enjoy playing the game of Bowls.
