Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council Message:

Dear Parish and Town Councillors

As part of our Brexit preparations, the council is asking partners, stakeholders and community representatives to help spread the word about the EU Settlement Scheme – to promote it within their organisations, and to residents and communities. A similar email has been sent to contacts for inclusion in community newsletters and magazines.

The EU Settlement Scheme is run by the Home Office and is intended to ensure that EU citizens who live in the UK can continue to live, work and study here as they do now. EU citizens have until June 2021 to apply – or December 2020 if the UK leaves the EU without a deal.

Details of the scheme can be found at: https://www.gov.uk/settled-status-eu-citizens-families/applying-for-settled-status

Anyone who needs help and support applying to the scheme can either telephone We are Digital on 03333 445675 for an appointment at the Viables Centre in Basingstoke.

Or contact Basingstoke, or Tadley, Citizens Advice on 03444 111 306 or Mobile 0300 3300 650.

For those seeking general or specific advice about Brexit, people and businesses can find more advice and guidance through the Government’s Get Ready for Brexit campaign at https://www.gov.uk/brexit

Thank you for helping us to spread the word. There was a report to the council’s Cabinet on 10 September that outlined the work the council is doing to prepare for Brexit. This may also be of interest and can be found at https://democracy.basingstoke.gov.uk/ieListDocuments.aspx?CId=142&MId=1448.
