The wonderful residents of Battle are now eagerly awaiting the completing of an exciting new addition to the town. The Battle Health Pathway is very nearly in its final stages of completion, and those who have been following its progress are extremely keen to start using this versatile new outdoor facility.

The Health Pathway project was sparked from the creative ideas and hard work of a community group with a vision for building an all-weather pathway that could be used by all, for sports training exercise and leisure. After years of planning and successful fundraising, building works began a few months ago and are very soon to be finished, ready for all to enjoy.

Walkers, runners, young cyclists, scooter users, people with mobility difficulties, people working to regain fitness and those with children in push chairs are all encouraged to make use of this brilliant facility. The pathway has been carefully designed to provide connectivity and improve access to the recreation ground for the residents of Battle and the surrounding area, it will also include areas of beautiful nature gardens.

As part of the Health Pathway Project, plans also include a purpose-built area where young cyclists can develop balance and technical skills away from traffic and pedestrians.

Please note that the lower western section needs to be temporarily closed off to allow the surface to fully establish.

In other exciting news, Battle Town Council are also currently consulting on the gym equipment preferred by the community and have just issued a tender invitation for a replacement, fit-for-purpose Pavilion. For more information on responding to the public consultation please see battletowncouncil.gov.uk or email enquiries@battletowncouncil.gov.uk by 31 October 2020.
