Family rivalry
Wellington Bowling Club’s Ladies Indoor Singles Competition first round featured a match across the generations when Sue Channon found herself competing against her 16 year old granddaughter, Leah Waygood. Youth finally triumphed with Leah winning 21-7. She now faces Diana Dagg in Round 2.
In the Men’s Indoor Singles event two matches were played to decide semi-finalists. Chris Thorne outplayed Geoff Stamp to take their match 21-8 and Ian Thompson beat Richard Whiting 21-3. Both winners were favourites to get through to the semi-final stage of the competition.
