Finals Day 2020

Drawn Pairs competition 2020.

Following further discussions on how we make the most of this unusual season, the comps committee would like to hold a ‘drawn pairs’ competition to be held on the morning of Sunday September 6th 2020 (this is in the calendar as Finals Day). Start 10.00a.m.

It will be a funevent and run on a similar basis to previous Woodlands tournaments, as well as acting as the pre cursor to the individual ‘League’ final (*)which will take place in the afternoon of that day.

It is hoped that as many members and guests as possible will attend on the day to support both events, bring a packed lunch and purchase from the bar. NB Covid guidance will remain operational.

All paid up members are eligible for entry into the drawn pairs and should submit their desire to play to Tony P by Sunday August 30th.

When all entries have been received ‘pairs’ will be drawn (at a Thursday roll-up) and a form of ‘Round Robin’ match timetable created, hopefully forming two leagues (the exact format will depend on how many enter).

In the ‘Round Robin’ there will be a number of short games of 6, 8 or 10 ends in 2 leagues with the top scorers in each league playing a final after lunch, and prior to the individual league winners final.

It is hoped that a significant number of members and guests will be at the club to support the event and in particular the two afternoon finals.

In the meantime;

1. If you wish to enter the ‘Drawn Pairs’, please inform Tony P by Aug 30th

2. Please ensure Sunday September 6th is kept free in your diaries. 10.00am start.

3. Think about what you’d like to have in your packed lunch.

4. Ensure you bring some money to spend behind the bar and in the raffle.

So the programme for the 6th, will look something like;

9.30am Arrive, learn pairs comp format, talk tactics with your partner, make sure you look good for the press photo’s

10.00am Drawn Pairs round robin begins

12.30 Lunch

1.30pm Drawn Pairs final

2.30pm League final
