πŸ”₯ IMPORTANT DUNE FIRE SAFETY MESSAGE πŸ”₯

Following this summer’s wildfires on our local dunes, Hightown Parish Council invited Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service to provide guidance on what residents should do.

πŸš’ Their message is simple:

❌ DO NOT attempt to tackle a dune fire yourself.

πŸ“ž Call the Fire Service immediately.

Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service has a 6-minute response time, with specialist dune-fire equipment based at Formby.

πŸ“ Help them find you quickly:

If you have the What3Words app, use it to give the exact location of the fire. This can help firefighters reach the right place faster.

πŸ—ΊοΈ The Fire Service will also be mapping access points and footpaths across Hightown’s dunes to help improve response times in future.

Residents with properties adjacent to the dunes were also advised to keep garden foliage well managed.

πŸ™ Please share this information.

If you see a dune fire, stay safe, move away and call the Fire Service. πŸš’
