A Flood Alert has been issued by the Environment Agency.

Flood Alert in force: River Idle in Nottinghamshire.

Flooding is possible for: River Idle and tributaries from West Drayton to the confluence with the River Trent.

Be prepared.

"River levels are rising at the Ordsall river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is possible to begin from 06:00, 28/12/23. Areas most at risk are low-lying agricultural land and roads including Goose Moor Lane at Ordsall, and farmlands in the Gamston and Eaton areas.
Further intermittent bands of rain are forecast through the night, mostly light rain but occasionally heavy in places. We expect river levels to continue to rise for the next 12 - 24 hours.
We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are patrolling watercourses in the area.
Please avoid using low-lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low-lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded.
This message will be updated before 10am, 28/12/23"
