On Sunday morning at Malshanger, Oakley took on Odiham and North Warnborough in the County Mixed Top Club Competition. With 5 points at stake from the 5 disciplines it was soon evident, with skip Spencer Kerley looking as if he had never played the game before, that the Triples game was unlikely to go our way. Fortunately, however, despite the Triples being 19-0 down the Pairs were well up, the Fours had their noses in front and both singles were well in contention. There was, nonetheless, some relief as Nicole Rogers picked up her point in the Women's Singles and when shortly afterwards Ashley Nethercliffe came through in the Men's Singles, in a quality hard fought game against Paul Webster, the match was all but over. By then the Fours like the Pairs had a commanding lead and it was not long before Odiham conceded both disciplines giving Oakley a 4-1 victory. Oakley Scores: Nicole Rogers won 21-15, Ashley Nethercliffe won 21-18. Janie Vickers and Fred Norris won 27-5, Ric Newson, Ruth Bown and Spencer Kerley lost 11-27, Sue Dixon, Bob Goodyear, Kay Kerley and Ted Brown won 24-10.
