The tourism team at DDC have some free training opportunities for tourism, hospitality and leisure businesses in the Dover district, and also the Kent Downs AONB Countryside Experience programme.

The free online training is being delivered by Tourism South East. There are two courses, Welcome Host Gold (3rd and 10th March) and Exceeding Visitor Expectations (23rd and 30th March). People can book a place by emailing: anita.sedgewick@dover.gov.uk
They are also funding a self-led Tourism South East course, Customer Service Excellence. This can be completed by the participant at their own pace. Again, places can be reserved by emailing: anita.sedgewick@dover.gov.uk
There are a few places remaining on courses being run by Keep Your Fork between now and early March. The next workshops will cover having an effective website, email marketing and getting media attention with photos and press releases. England’s Coast Ambassador is a free online training programme aimed at staff working in a tourism business, which covers customer service and the attractions on offer in your area. People can sign up at www.englandscoastambassador.co.uk
Kent Downs AONB Countryside Experience Programme, is aimed at rural businesses within 5km of the Kent Downs AONB or the North Downs Way, that have an idea for diversifying or starting up something new. It’s designed to help existing and budding new rural businesses to develop incredible experiences for visitors to Kent. Successful applicants will get free marketing promotion, 1-2-1 support and business development training with experts, as well as networking opportunities.
