Sunday Friendly at New Beckenham

Sunday saw a smaller-than-planned but mighty Norbury contingent head over to New Beckenham for a 3pm start on their beautiful green. We fielded six players: Pat, Andy, and Sam on one rink, and Bev, Clive, and Alice on the other.

The setting was lovely, and the bowling… well, let’s just say Alice’s rink did their best and politely avoided eye contact with the scoreboard on the way out. (I forgot to note the final scores — I’ll update this once I get my hands on them, if I can bring myself to do it!)

Win or lose (or lose badly), it was a great afternoon and a warm, welcoming fixture. The green at New Beckenham is an absolute gem — beautifully kept and a real pleasure to bowl on. If you ever get the chance to play there, take it!

A big thank you as well to Colin, who kindly gave up his time to provide transport despite not playing — and made a real difference to the atmosphere on the day with his encouragement from the sidelines.
