Well what a difference a day makes!

On Saturday we went to Erdington Court, and whilst we put up a gallant challenge we lost all our rinks and by 40 points. However, some of our players had not played there before, and it gave them good experience on playing on carpet. This will, hopefully, help them when they go to play there again. Both of us Captains were non-playing as their Captain, Roy had his thumb and hand in plaster and I had a 'jippy' knee.

Regardless of the score, it was a lovely afternoon and I was pleased I was able to support our team.

A big thank you to all those who put their names down to play, following my rallying call for help. We look forward to playing them at the Muni in August.

On Sunday we hosted Stratford upon Avon. With the sun shining and good company to play our game, we were successful in winning 4 rinks to 2, with a narrow points victory of 96 to 93. Our best winning rink was Pauline Mantle, Paul Adams and Doug Bott who each received a Solihull Municipal Bowls Club 50th Anniversary Pen. Each of the players from Stratford also received one of these commemorative pens.

Thank you to all teams for our victory, and to the Members who helped set up and clear up. I'd also like to thank Pauline and Pat for doing the raffle.

Mo Tuckett

Acting Club Captain
