I just received an email to say there's another delay to our £400 + £200 energy grants - see below.

When it's up and running we'll let you know how to apply. We do know it will be via the government website (and also a special hotline if you're not tech-savvy). Payments will be made directly to you (Royale play no part in these grants).

Here's the email I got from our contact in the government ...

Good morning James,

Further to my email below, I would like to provide you with a further update on the payments.

Following the initial testing of the systems, a number of challenges were identified and as a result the Government has made a decision to extend the pilot phase of the scheme to ensure that the scheme is robust and as effective as possible. On Wednesday the Government announced that the scheme will now open across all local authorities no later than 27 February.

I know this will be disappointing news for residents but can assure you that the Government has not taken this decision lightly and understands the concerns of residents who are struggling with energy bills. There are significant complexities in delivering this novel scheme to not only park home residents, but to a wide variety of eligible groups with different energy arrangements. The Government therefore wants to ensure that consumers are protected including by having robust verification and anti-fraud checks.

I will continue to keep you updated on the progress of the scheme.

Yours sincerely,

William
