Giant Yellow Crane spotted in Hope Bagot ditch

A ditch in Hope Bagot has claimed yet another victim today when a 27 tonne crane, on its way to Whitton Court, slipped into a ditch and needed another giant crane to gradually drag and haul it back out again. The (relatively) exciting incident (for Hope Bagot anyway) was watched by a local resident who submitted this startling photograph (we have covered the registration plate to protect the driver from undue embarrassment). There was some concern as Severn Trent had laid a new water main in the same location during the summer (see the 29th August 2018 news) but all seems well regarding fresh water supply. The incident does appear, however, to have blocked one of the drains that runs under the lane into a stream - we'll have to keep an eye on this with Brexit looming as the government doesn't appear to have included this possibility in its contingency plans.
