The Parish Council has written to MP Aphra Brandreth regarding the grammar school. The Parish Council has asked if Aphra is available to attend the next Council meeting but unfortunately she is in Westminster on this day. We have, however, received the response below:

Thank you for your email and for getting in touch on behalf of Audlem Parish Council.

I completely understand the concerns that local residents have about the future of the Old Grammar School and the uncertainty surrounding the site.

I have now received some responses from the Home Office. Disappointingly, they have not addressed the specific concerns that have been raised about the site, so I have gone back to them to seek further clarification and, importantly, greater certainty about the position in Audlem.

I remain in contact with Cheshire Police on this matter, and they have reassured me again this week that, at present, there is no indication that the site is being, or is due to be, used for asylum accommodation.

I know there is a great deal of concern locally, and residents want clear answers. It is really important that we establish the facts, and I am continuing to press the relevant authorities to provide the clarity that the community deserves.

I also want to thank every resident who has been in touch with me about this issue. Their correspondence has been extremely helpful in highlighting the strength of local feeling. I will continue to work with Cheshire East Council, the Home Office, Cheshire Police and Cllr Rachel Bailey, and I will share any further substantive information with you as soon as I receive it.

Thank you again for your help and for continuing to keep me informed of residents' concerns. I know how important it is to people in Audlem that there is clarity about what is happening at this site.

Best wishes,

Aphra
