Grange Lane closure until 15 th July 2026, diversion nightmare, disappearing bus route and other tales of the unexpected.

The long hot spell has created extra heat along Grange Lane. Tempers are frayed as we become hot and bothered with the road clousure and trying to find a diversion that is passable; an ideal traing ground for the "Race across the world" competitors. This closure is down to the water chappies who need a week to fix stuff and are a totaly different crew is simultaneously diggimg up Burghwallis Lane.

The reason given on the City website is a 'NS20- Installation of New 50mm Helix 4000 meter and strainer + X2 washouts." So now you know and can refect at your leisure on the progress (working daytime only) that is causing utter mayhem.

The alternative bulletin that could have have been sent to your email from Yorkshire water could have read; "We are installing some new gubbins to the main water supply to improve the flow rate, which means we are having to dig up the road for a whole week as we don't have a night shift.
