Grangewood v Norbury - Saturday 9th May

Norbury travelled to Grangewood for an away league match played in extremely hot conditions, with both teams doing well to complete the full game without breaks. Despite the heat, the afternoon was played in excellent spirits throughout, and it was especially nice to see Grangewood fielding a couple of younger players alongside their more experienced bowlers.

On Alice’s rink, Terry, Karen and Alice produced a very controlled performance to secure an 18-12 victory. Norbury settled quickly and steadily built an early lead with consistent scoring across the middle ends. A big count of four shots on the twelfth end proved particularly important, giving the rink breathing space before closing the game out comfortably.

The other Norbury rink of Sam, Bev and Clive also impressed in a high-scoring encounter, running out 21-13 winners. Although Grangewood stayed competitive for much of the match, Norbury made the most of the key moments, including excellent counts of four and five shots which ultimately created a decisive gap on the scoreboard.

Overall, Norbury recorded a strong 39-25 aggregate win in challenging conditions. Grangewood were excellent hosts, the weather stayed glorious throughout, and both clubs enjoyed a very pleasant afternoon of bowls.
