This morning was the one that every year we all dislike. The outdoor season at Oakley is over and the green, surrounds and clubhouse have to be put to bed. Between 8 and 9am some 20 members arrived to begin work and it was not long before our pristine surface was looking sorry for itself. As the greens team cut it and scarified it both ways ,other members were removing the mats from the ditches and power washing not only the mats but also the benches before storing them for the winter. Other members were cleaning the pavilion windows and doing a variety of tasks following the work schedule set out for us by Trevor Wearn. 11am saw Trevor allow us a break and the workers were delighted to have a rest and be served tea and coffee by Caroline Staham and sausage and bacon sandwiches by President Mary and husband Terry It was then back to work, which continued until mid afternoon when rain put an end to our efforts for the day. More work remains to be done tomorrow and on Wednesday but thanks go to all those who volunteered today
