Our County Councillor Alan Dowden has shared with us this information from Hampshire County Council, about the latest change to the rules.

https://www.hants.gov.uk/socialcareandhealth/coronavirus is the link to the HCC webpage where you will find the latest local guidance.

COVID-19 UPDATE: If you get a positive result from a lateral flow device test (LFT) you no longer have to take a PCR test to confirm it. Find out more at: www.gov.uk/government/news/confirmatory-pcr-tests-to-be-temporarily-suspended-for-positive-lateral-flow-test-results

The self-isolation rules have also changed. Whilst the isolation time remains 10 days you can reduce your isolation time after five full days if you test negative on LFT both day 5 and day 6 and do not have a temperature: www.gov.uk/government/news/self-isolation-for-those-with-covid-19-can-end-after-five-full-days-following-two-negative-lfd-tests

It’s still important to continue taking precautions to protect yourself and others from the virus by:

  • Wearing a face covering as required

  • Taking a test before meeting others

  • Opening windows to let in fresh air

  • Washing hands frequently with soap and water, use hand sanitiser when out and about

There is a helpline for people who are self-isolating: https://www.hants.gov.uk/socialcareandhealth/coronavirus/volunteer-welfare
