Have your say on the future of Medway

Medway council has to create a Local Plan to set out how the area will develop through to 2035. This has to take into account employment opportunities, economic growth, housing needs and environmental impacts.
A public consultation commenced on Monday 16 January 2017. This gives residents a chance to look at proposed options for growth and then feedback and suggest their own ideas.
The council has to try and protect and enhance the natural, built and historic environment whilst also planning the growth. One of the main issues is how does the council do this and also provide for 30,000 more homes (required by Government) and all the other aspects required for the areas growth.
Before a final decision is made there are many stages to go through and it is thought that the plan will be implemented around 2019. What is worry for us is that there is land adjacent to and also very near to the village that is marked as possible for development. We have already seen the Gladman Application and there may be more to follow.
It is really important that the Medway Council are made aware/reminded of the issues many of you have already highlighted in your objections to the Gladman Development. Many of the same arguments could also be made in light of the current documentation regarding the Medway Local plan.
The consultation runs from Monday 16 January 20107 until Monday 6 March 2017. Consultation documents should be viewable at Medway Council buildings and there will be a number of drop in sessions.
